Insurance Info
I am currently an in-network provider with the Insurance companies listed on the bottom of this page. This means I handle the paperwork and submittal to your insurance company. The only payment you make at the office is your copay which is usually the copay amount for specialist on your insurance card.
If your plan covers 80% and you pay 20% you will receive a bill for the 20% after your insurance company sends out your EOB (Explanation of Benefits). If you have a deductible to meet before your Insurance company will pay for acupuncture, you will be billed for acupuncture treatments and that amount will be applied to meet your deductible.
You can find out if your insurance plan covers acupuncture by calling the patient information or benefit line listed on your insurance card.
Questions to ask about your acupuncture benefits:
1. How many treatments per year do I get?
2. How much does my insurance cover?
3. How much is my copay for acupuncture?
4. Do I have a deductible to meet before insurance will cover my treatments?
5. Who must provide the acupuncture? Most plans cover a licensed acupuncturist (L.Ac.).
6. Will I need a referral from an MD to see and acupuncturist?
7. What conditions are covered for acupuncture?
At this time Medicare does not cover acupuncture. If Medicare is your primary insurance and you have another plan that covers acupuncture, I will submit to Medicare and after it is rejected, I then submit to the secondary insurance plan.
Good news is the Hinchey Bill is making it's way thru goverment committees for approval of Medicare payment for acupuncture. I do permit a sliding scale for people who only have medicaire and are on a fixed income.
